What can I expect from our first session?

Our first meeting is called an intake or evaluation session. We’ll talk about your overall history, why you have decided to come to therapy, and what your goals are for our time together. It’s an opportunity to build rapport, ask questions you may have, and see how we connect. At the end of the session, we’ll decide together if it feels right to move forward in scheduling another session to begin working on your goals.

How long does therapy last?

The duration of therapy looks different for everyone. For some, it may be a few sessions to target one specific goal. For others, it may be many sessions to work through complex issues to their meet goals. We will continually evaluate whether therapy is meeting your needs and identify when it may be time to stop.

How often do we meet for therapy?

This will depend on your individual needs. The standard frequency is weekly, then moving to less often as your goals are met. Some people start therapy with more issues to address and may benefit from two sessions per week. We’ll discuss the best plan for you during our initial intake session.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, I offer online therapy for those who are physically located in WV. I use a confidential video platform you can access from the comfort of your home or anywhere that’s private and has a stable, secure internet connection. You may access our session using your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Do you prescribe medication?

As Licensed Professional Counselor, I do not prescribe or advise on medication. However, I can provide a referral to help you with your medication needs.
